Oh, this little family! Every time I get them in front of the camera, I get a little nostalgic – because the very first time I photographed them was when little miss Avery was less than two weeks old! And I have had the privilege of photographing them almost every single year since that first session! I’m so grateful that they first trusted me back when my business was in its early years, and I’m so humbled every year that they continue to trust me to document each year for them! One of my favorite parts of this job as a photographer is getting to work with a family year after year, and I’m just so grateful Monica, Daniel, and Avery have let me do that for them!
This year, Avery is just around the corner from her fourth birthday (!!!) and I just couldn’t believe how much she’d grown up since our last session! Last time I had her in front of the camera, she was just a toddler. Now she’s a walking, talking little charmer (aaand she was a little bit of a ham for the camera, too!)! AND this year, I finally got to meet their furry girl, Lily! She was the sweetest girl, and SO well behaved!!! Y’all, we did about 2/3 of our session at the Virginia Tech Duck Pond, which, if you don’t know, has dozens of ducks running around at any given time. And Lily was able to be off-leash almost the entire time, even around the ducks! I was seriously so impressed. (Also, Avery was very concerned about helping to make sure Lily behaved, which was so entertaining to watch!)
Every year when we set a date for their session, I find myself thinking that we couldn’t possibly hope to top our last session together – and yet, somehow, we always do. Just like each of our previous years, this year’s session is a new fave in my book, and I am SO excited to share these with y’all!
(Also, y’all, no exaggeration – we took this first shot on the left within the first 5 minutes of our time together! Naaailed ittt!)
This next one is easily my top fave traditional, everyone-smiling-at-the-camera (even the pup) shot from this year’s session! I mean, can you even?? Because I can’t.
This next one … oh my goodness. Pups + littles are just the cutessst!
Monica runs a little side-hustle making the most adorable crafts + earrings, so we made sure to grab a good variety of solo shots for her to use in her business! I love this next one!
Okay, I LOVE this next shot of Monica and Avery!
Another fave candid … doesn’t Lily just look like she’s living her best life in this next shot??
This little cutie …
Loved shooting a few portraits of just Monica + Daniel on this porch!
Avery did such a great job twirling for me…
Love, love, love this next one of Monica and Avery on the right! The cutest eskimo kisses!
And I have to end with another one of my top faves! Love this candid of the whole fam! <3
Monica, Daniel, thank you for trusting me (again!) to capture you + your girls. I enjoyed every minute of it and I’m SO in love with all of your images!
