I am so excited to share this family session today!!! Jason and I are acquainted with the Martz family through our church, but I was able to get to know the whole family a little bit better at our session, and let me tell you, they kept me laughing the entire time! Every one of them is sharp and witty and outgoing and friendly, and it made our time together so enjoyable.
We actually ran into a little hiccup (thanks, Google maps) that got us off to a late start, but thank goodness that Carvin’s Cove still has a TON of light even for a few minutes after sunset. (One of the many reasons this is one of my absolute favorite places to shoot in southwest Virginia!) We were still able to fit in everything that we needed to, and I just love every frame we captured! It was a beautiful day, Carvin’s Cove was showing off for us with the glowiest late summer light, and I’m basically obsessed with how well they pulled off their black, white, and denim color palette, soooo this one’s a new fave in my books, y’all. (Also, Linna and Kami now have me wanting to go out and buy my own black pleated skirt and white jumpsuit because they made it look SO. GOOD!)
Enjoy my faves from my time with Scott, Linna, Zelun, Kami, and Jace!
Love, love, love this next shot of Kami!
If possible, I always try to fit in a few romantic portraits of Mom + Dad during a family session, because it did all start with just the two of them! And I love this next black + white shot of Linna + Scott!
Love this mother-daughter shot coming up on the right!
Have I mentioned I was super impressed with their outfits?! Because I think it’s worth repeating. I love how the combination of black + white + denim looks so effortlessly chic!
This next frame is one of my top faves – I love everything about it! Beautiful smiles, fabulous outfits, soft glowy sunset light, and those pretty mountains in the background! It’s just perfection.
I always try to do individual portraits of each family member anyways, but Linna specifically needed some new natural-light head shots for work, so we made sure to focus on that for a few minutes – and I love, love, love this next one! GAH! So pretty, Linna!!!
Also, I love that Kami’s shoes added a little pop of red in all of her images! So fun!
Linna, Scott, thank you for trusting me to capture this season for your family! I seriously had the best time spending the evening with y’all and I’m such a fan of ALL of your images!!!
