Oh, how I love working with this little family!  I have had the honor of photographing Monica, Daniel, and Avery almost every single year since Avery was born – and it’s been so stinkin’ fun to watch this little girl grow each year (and also to meet their pup, Lily, at our session last summer!)!  And what a blessing that somewhere along the way, Monica and I crossed the threshold of client-photographer relationship into legit friends – y’all, clients turning into friends is seriously one of my favorite added perks of this job!

And when I found out that their family was going to grow just 6 weeks (ish) after Jason and I welcomed our little boy into our lives?!  I was over the moon excited for them, and to get to share some of that pregnancy and newborn season of life with Monica!  Theirs was my first newborn session after becoming a mama myself, and boy do I have a whole new perspective now!  I loved that I could relate to this season of life firsthand now, rather than just through the stories I’d heard of other mamas’ experiences.

We swapped a few birth story deets, and commiserated together over just how hard those first few weeks are!  Monica told me (and I got to see firsthand) how smitten Avery is with her new little sister – just wait till you see some of the images of those two girls together!  And of course, we captured so. many. baby snuggles – mommy snuggles, daddy snuggles, big sister snuggles, and the sweetest moments of this whole family of four!  Every time I photograph this family, I wonder how it could possibly get any better the next time – and every time, somehow, it does!  Little Ella Kate’s arrival is a new favorite newborn session in my book, and I cannot WAIT for y’all to see my favorites from my time with this little family!

I love, love, love how Monica decorated Ella’s nursery.  So bright, clean, and feminine!

Monica runs a crafting business as a side hustle, and one of the things she specializes in is hair bows – so this girl has hair bows for dayyyssss!

I’m not going to lie, I’m a little obsessed with this dainty, feminine light fixture Monica picked out for the nursery!

And here’s their sweet new baby girl!  How precious is this little lace onesie from etsy?!

Avery was SO excited to get to hold her baby sister for some of the photos!  She did such a good job and I’m obsessed with all the sweet little moments we captured between these two girls!

I’m not sure what it is about those shooting-through-the-nursery-door moments, but I just love them.  I think because they feel so natural, and so unassuming – like this moment could have happened with or without a photographer there to capture it.  And those are the kind of moments I love capturing!

I *adore* this next little moment on the left – baby Ella’s hand wrapped around big sister Avery’s finger.  I mean, can you EVEN?! 🥺😍

Love, love, love this next shot of Avery.  We were setting up for a shot of both girls side by side, and it was the perfect opportunity for Avery’s personality to shine through – and it just couldn’t be any cuter!
