This little fam hopped on my calendar *just* before my session cut-off date (in anticipation of my own little guy’s arrival) and I’m SO glad they did, because what a sweet little session this was to end my pre-maternity-leave calendar with!  We actually had to reschedule from our original session date, because my allergies (or maybe a mild cold?) caused me to almost completely lose my voice for about a week!  And when the forecast for our second date showed clouds and possible thunderstorms, we took a chance and decided to go for it anyways, rather than reschedule again and push too close to my due date.

While we definitely did have cloud cover, we were lucky enough not to get rained on – and honestly, I’m kind of digging the clouds over the mountains in these shots!  Partly because I think they’re pretty, but also partly because if we’re being honest, life isn’t always sunshiney every day, am I right??  Some days are harder than others, and sometimes it’s a choice to look for the silver lining, find the joy in the little moments, and be grateful for the good things each day brings – rain or shine.  I know these three haven’t always had the easiest days, but I also know that they are without a doubt looking for the joy in each day, and practicing gratitude for the blessings right in front of them, and that they’re smack in the middle of walking through a season of redemption – and I’m just excited that I had the honor of capturing a little glimpse of that season for them.

I’ve got to tell y’all the story behind this next shot!  It may have been this little family’s first time in front of my camera, but it certainly was not their first time having professional photos taken – and apparently in previous family sessions, Miles very much enjoyed the “kissing” shot.  You know, the one where Mama + Daddy kiss his cheeks and he gets to ham it up for the photographer – so he actually cued this next moment all on his own and oh my gosh, how cute is he soaking up all the kisses?!

I always try to grab a handful of shots of just mom + dad, because before there were three, it was just these two … and I love each and every one of the shots we got of just Stephanie + Taylor!  (I mean, these two are adorable on their own, but add in that tall grass + blue-green summer mountain backdrop?!  I can’t even.)
