Kristin + Matt were ALL smiles at their engagement session, and when you consider the fact that they were originally supposed to be getting married the weekend we shot these (and had to postpone their wedding plans, like so many other couples this year), I think their joy speaks volumes about their personalities and their relationship! When quarantine restrictions were put in place in Virginia and they were faced with the decision to postpone their wedding plans (AND having to find a new photographer, when their original photographer wasn’t available for their new date), they could have gotten stuck focusing on all the negatives that came along with having to reschedule an entire wedding day. But instead, these two chose to focus on the positives – including embracing the opportunity for a second engagement session! And I’m so glad they did, because their session is one of my all-time favorites (and I already cannot wait to shoot at Scottland Farm again on their wedding day)!
Kristin + Matt have known each other since middle school, were friends during high school, but it wasn’t until after college when they were both visiting their hometown for the holidays that they caught up with each other over drinks, and the rest was history! Matt popped the question around Christmas of 2018, but the proposal wasn’t without its hiccups. Matt had hoped to get Kristin out of the house for the proposal, but she told him she was too tired and she took a nap instead! But I was SO impressed when Kristin told me what Matt did next – while she took a nap, he set up a scavenger hunt in their apartment to lead her to the big moment! I think that just goes to show you how resourceful Matt is, and how easy-going the two of them are as a couple.
Kristin, Matt, I so enjoyed getting to spend the evening with y’all (and your pups), and I’m so excited to share all of my faves from our time together!
Did I mention they brought their pups, Lexi (above left) and Leo (above right)?!
Scottland Farm has the most photogenic field I’ve ever had the pleasure of shooting in! Beautiful rolling hills + mountains (plus a little sunshine glow) in the distance + these two front and center made this set of images some of my all-time faves! all. the. heart eyes!
I love, love, love this next black + white photo on the left!
This next one on the left is one of my favorites – I love how happy their sweet girl is!
I’m such a fan of how ruffly + flowy Kristin’s dress was!!
Love, love, love this next one! It’s one of my top faves!
Love this gorgeous shot of Kristin coming up next on the right!
One last fave in the field …
Kristin, Matt, I’m so sorry that you’ve had to reschedule your entire wedding day – but I’m also grateful that it brought y’all my way! I so enjoyed spending the evening with you two, and I can’t wait to do this again on your wedding day!
Beautiful images!
