I’m so grateful for couples like KellyAnne + Jon! We ran into a few little snags right at the start of their session – first, a completely full parking lot with a wait time to get into the park, which delayed our start time ever so slightly, and then (as you might imagine with a full parking lot) there were large crowds of people at each of the falls overlooks and on the trails! But these two weren’t phased one bit – they took it all in stride, and they were gracious enough to trust my judgement when it came to finding a few less-traveled spots to shoot in, and waiting until the end of our session to make our way to the main attraction of the park – the falls! KellyAnne + Jon chose Great Falls Park for their session because even though they live in the city, they both love the outdoors – and more importantly, Jon proposed at one of the overlooks!!! So because I knew this was a sentimental location for them, I really wanted to make sure I captured it at its best – and I just couldn’t have done that without their willingness to trust me with our locations and our timing! It made all the difference!!!
I absolutely loved getting to know these two while we traipsed around the park together for an evening. They are both incredibly gracious and easygoing, and it was just a pleasure to spend the evening with them! (Plus, let’s be honest, they’re adorable together, which always makes my job easy!) After spending just this one evening with them, I already know their wedding day is going to be an absolute joy to be a part of, and I’m so honored that I have the privilege of capturing it for them!
But before I ramble on too much, how about I go ahead and share my faves from their engagement session with y’all?! 😉
We had some of the most beautiful sunshine glow during the first part of our session! And those fall colors in northern Virginia were most definitely showing off for us! 🙂
I love this next shot on the left – KellyAnne, you’re adorable!
I’m not going to lie, I’m a little obsessed with this next moment in black + white:
Aaaand this next one has to be one of my top faves!! Love, love, love the joy in this moment. <3
Have I mentioned that sunshine glow can be just as gorgeous in black + white as it is in color?! See below…
They changed outfits mid-way through our session and I’ve got to admit, I’m a little obsessed with KellyAnne’s navy lace dress! GAH! (Also, can we just talk about what a trooper she was? This girl was willing to walk anywhere I asked her to – in those gorgeous heels – and I’m so grateful for that!)
They even did a little slow dancing in the woods… 🙂
Y’all, if we had tried to grab these next shots at the overlook even 30 minutes earlier, it would have been impossible. People were lined up shoulder-to-shoulder at all of the overlooks, until the park office shut down and we had just a few minutes left before sunset. (And in full disclosure, there were still other park visitors just a foot outside of the frame even when we took these! Yet another reason I love this couple – they were willing to snuggle up close for me, even with an audience! But if you ask me, it was 100% worth it!)
KellyAnne, Jon, thank you so much for allowing me to be part of this season of your lives! (And thank you for your willingness to trust me, a girl you’d only “met” once, over FaceTime, before our session!!) I hope we created images that you love, and I can’t wait to do this again on your wedding day!!
