Alex reached out to get on my spring calendar back in the early part of the year … and I’m SO glad she did, because theirs was one of those sessions that just made me so grateful for the opportunities I get as a photographer. Not just opportunities to create memories and photos that (I hope!) will become heirlooms for their family, because it’s so much more than that. It’s opportunities to meet and get to know people who I wouldn’t otherwise have gotten to meet! To have the privilege of hearing their stories and getting a glimpse into the season of life they’re in. And maybe even getting to walk away with new friends.
Spending an evening with these three was SO enjoyable just because of how sweet they are; but their session was also extra fun for me because: (1) their sweet little Jameson is almost exactly a year older than my little boy, and watching him gave me a little glimpse of what I have to look forward to – the walking and talking and fascination with everything around him! And (2) we were shooting at the Virginia Tech Duck Pond, which is not only one of my favorite locations to shoot at, but it’s also always a little nostalgic for me because it’s where Jason and I had our first date and where we said our “I do”s! On top of all of that, we could not have asked for better weather – it was just warm enough not to be chilly, and we had some soft sunshiney glow behind the trees (AND even some pretty pink blossoms on some of the trees!) and it just could not have been more “picture perfect.”
That being said, let me just show you what I mean – enjoy my many favorites from this sweet family’s time together!
How lucky did we get that this tree had these gorgeous pretty spring blooms?!
Also, how adorable is this sweet little boy?! GAH he was just the cutest!
GAH, that last one (above) of Alex + Daniel, and then these next two … FAVES!
Jameson is SUPER into trains right now, so Alex + Daniel bought him a new train toy for his birthday / for our shoot, and I loved all the little moments of him investigating and playing with his train! (Also, peep his little conductor hat! OMG. I can’t even.)
Love, love, love this next photo of Jameson + his daddy up next on the right!
We got SO many sweet shots of Alex + Daniel together – I love them all so, so much! But especially that last one (above) and this next one below on the left!
Love, love, love this next shot of Jameson with his mama, too!
Did I mention Jameson’s new train also blew bubbles?! SO stinking cute!
I mean, y’all, can you even with these next two shots?? Because I can’t.
Remember that pretty glowy light I mentioned? … see below!
Ending with two more of my faves below … look at that happy little boy with his train! SO stinkin’ sweet!
Alex, Daniel, thank y’all for choosing to trust me to capture this sweet season of life for you! I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed spending the evening with you + your sweet boy, and I hope you love your images as much as I do!!
