Oh, I am SO excited to share this wedding on the blog today! For starters, I’m so excited FOR Kristin + Jeremy, because although they did have to reschedule from their original wedding date due to the pandemic restrictions in Virginia, they were still able to have the day they’d dreamed of, and just under a month after their original date! In the midst of many brides and grooms having to postpone for several months (or even until next year), a less-than-one-month postponement felt like such a win for these two! They have been together for the better part of a decade, and have been navigating a long-distance relationship for almost 6 years! So this day was a long time coming, and I’m so honored that they chose to allow me to be part of it.
I’m not going to lie to y’all, I also loved so many of the details of their day! They chose to have their wedding at Claytor Lake because it’s been one of their favorite places to spend time together throughout their relationship. (And surprisingly, in almost 5 years of business in this area, theirs was my first wedding at Claytor Lake!) I’m also obsessed with the simplicity of their wedding color palette – classic black suits for the fellas and a soft, summery blue for the girls (with touches of blue in their florals, too!)! Aaaaand their bubble exit at dusk is now one of my all-time faves!
Okay, okay, I won’t keep you in suspense any longer. Enjoy my faves from Kristin + Jeremy’s wedding day!
Gosh, I loved incorporating the delicate lace on Kristin’s dress into her detail photos!
I love both of these next images, but the one on the left is SUCH a fave! I’m such a fan of mother-daughter getting ready shots!
I love that Kristin + Jeremy’s bridal party was ALL family! Kristin’s sister and Jeremy’s sister were bridesmaids, and Jeremy’s cousins were groomsmen!
Diiiid I mention I’m obsessed with these colors???
Love, love, love both of these next frames but especially this gorgeous bridal portrait of Kristin! Wasn’t her dress just perfect for her??
Ceremony time!!! It actually sprinkled for a few minutes as we were preparing for the ceremony to start (I found out later that it was POURING just a few minutes away!) but the rain dried up and the sun came out JUST in time for the ceremony to start!
HUSBAND + WIFE!!!
Kristin and I had had several conversations leading up to the wedding day where we talked about how much we both love willow trees in photos, so it made me SO happy that we were able to use this willow tree for family formals, bridal party, and their first few portraits as husband + wife!
There was some cloud cover passing through just after the ceremony, but for the most part, the sun stayed out and it just made for the dreamiest glow behind this willow tree! I was in photographer heaven, y’all! Literally could shoot an entire session under this tree in golden hour light and it would be AMAZING.
I love both of these next frames, but especially the one on the right! I love changing up my angles during portraits so I can get these more creative, fine art types of shots! (Also, getting the back of the dress + the groom’s brand new bling is just always a good idea!)
Um, did I mention I literally could have shot a full session of these two with this tree + that sunshine glow?!? All. the. heart eyes!
Party time! (Also, Jeremy MADE their wedding day sign in this next photo on the left! I love it!)
Golden hour bride + groom portraits were a huge priority for Kristin so we actually extended that part of their timeline, and it was so worth it! I love what we captured during that part of the day! (p.s. in this spot, you can see the gazebo where they said their vows in the background!)
The clouds were rolling in a little heavier at this point in the evening, but that’s really what made this location so great for portraits!!! If the sun had been out in full force, we wouldn’t have had this soft, beautiful light or those pretty, soft clouds in the sky!
We made it down to the beach area JUST in time to take advantage of the last bit of natural light and I just love the pastel colors in the water at this time of day!
Then it was time to head back to their guests for a faux exit, toasts and cake!
We actually photographed their bubble exit before the party ended, so we could take advantage of “blue hour” – aka dusk, after sunset but while there’s still some color left in the sky. And y’all, bubble exits at dusk are a new fave for me! I LOVE these images so much!!!
Kristin, Jeremy, thank you again for inviting me into this season of your lives and trusting me to capture your wedding day. I hope these images bring back the best memories from your day!
