I have the privilege of knowing these two parents-to-be through our church, and more specifically through our church’s small groups for young married couples! But because there are so many young married couples involved in small groups, Jason and I haven’t yet managed to actually be in the same weekly group as Sarah and Brent! So while we’ve seen each other occasionally at large group gatherings, we haven’t really been able to spend a lot of one-on-one time with them yet – and I was SO excited when Sarah messaged me about doing maternity + newborn photos for them, because I knew I’d have the opportunity to spend some time getting to know them through that process!
Brent + Sarah have such a great story. They met serendipitously while they were both on vacation at the beach! Brent could tell from their very first encounter that there was something special about Sarah that he was drawn to, and they stayed in touch even after they both went home from vacation. A few months later, he moved from North Carolina to southwest Virginia so they could date without distance between them, and the rest, as they say, is history. Fast forward to this chilly winter day on the campus of my alma mater (and soon to be Brent’s, too!) – they’ve been married for 10 years and they’re expecting their first baby, a little boy.
I had SO much fun with these two – it was the best combination of getting to know new friends and capturing memories of this sweet season so they can remember it even once they’re holding their baby boy in their arms – and I’m SO excited to share my faves from our time together!
I LOVE this next photo! It doesn’t take long to realize that these two have fun together and they laugh a LOT, and I love how much we captured that side of their relationship during our time together!
Love, love, love this next sweet moment!
OBSESSED with this next one. Sarah, you’re so pretty!
They changed outfits a little before our halfway mark, and I’m in love with Sarah’s gorgeous emerald green dress!!! all. the. heart eyes!
We shot most of their session in ONE gorgeous courtyard on the VT campus, but as the light got softer, we moved to one of VT’s most iconic buildings – Burruss Hall!
Love both of these next photos, but especially the one of Sarah on the right!
Y’all know I couldn’t resist a few twirls with Sarah’s gorgeous dress!! I love this next one on the right!
so. many. bump photos that I love!
Can we just stop for a second to pay attention to just how gorgeous Sarah’s hair was?! (Thanks, Meredith’s Salon!)
Okay, be honest. Who else is obsessed with this next photo of Sarah?
OH. MY. GOSHHHH girl!
Sarah told me she wanted to have their session at VT because she loves the architecture on the VT campus, and I absolutely could not agree more! I LOVE the architectural details I get to incorporate when I’m shooting on campus!
Once the sun had just dipped below the horizon, we had the best light for a few wide photos of campus – and I just had to end with this one! SO stunning, am I right??
Sarah, Brent, thank you for trusting me to capture this season of life for you! I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed spending the evening with you!!
