laura + jonathan | montfair resort farm wedding

As I’ve gotten to know Laura + Jonathan over the last 8 months, it has become apparent to me just how thoughtful they both are.  From the gifts they’d planned for each other and letters they’d written to exchange on their wedding day, to the way they honored each other’s families throughout the day, to the gentle way that they served each other at every opportunity (including washing each other’s feet during their ceremony!), they were every bit as thoughtful and kind on their wedding day as they have been every other time I’ve interacted with them.  It was such an honor to share their day with them, and I loved seeing how they chose not only to make the day special and memorable for each other with their gifts and letters, but also how they chose to recognize the Creator and Father who purposed them to be together!  There were so many opportunities for prayer throughout the day, and during every one, there was recognition of God’s faithfulness in their lives and gratitude for the treasure He had given them when He brought them together!  They set aside time during their ceremony for a worship song.  Even the toasts at the reception were all filled with testimony of God’s faithfulness toward Laura + Jonathan.  (And also stories about Chester, their corgi – who it seems was Jonathan’s first love.  HA!)

All that to say, Laura + Jonathan’s day was full of joy, gratitude, and the most heartfelt moments.  And I’m so excited to share a few of my favorite images with you today!

I loved all the chiffon ruffles in Laura’s dress!  (and they made for a perfect backdrop to photograph her details with!)

Laura’s sister and sister-in-law were both in her bridal party and her sister had the honor of helping her into her dress!

LOVE this next shot on the left that Megs took of Christina zipping up the dress!

The boys got ready in “Papaw’s Cottage” on the Montfair property while the girls were getting ready in the Beauchamp House!

I loved the front porch on the Beauchamp House!

That time Jonathan’s groomsmen ran with the suggestion to blindfold him so that he didn’t accidentally see Laura before the ceremony… haha!

We had such pretty light where we photographed Laura with her bridesmaids and Jonathan with his groomsmen!  One of the reasons Laura + Jonathan chose Montfair as their venue was because of all of the mountain views around the property – and I love that on top of this pretty light, we even had a little glimpse of the mountains in the background in this spot!

I loved the cream scarves Laura’s girls had to go with their dresses – and they came in handy, because we had some brisk, windy weather that day!!

Laura + Jonathan shared a few moments together before the ceremony – Jonathan wasn’t allowed to see Laura just yet (although he could hardly contain his excitement to see her!) but they exchanged gifts and letters they’d written for each other, and they prayed together over the day and their brand new marriage.  It was such a precious few minutes that they set aside with each other.

As always, I loved Megan’s angle on the kiss, below!

We made the forest and mountains our backdrop again for bridal party photos!

Laura + Jonathan told me at their engagement session that they’re not afraid to be extra sweet with each other in front of the camera (I think the exact term they used was “cuddly!” haha!) and that held true for their wedding day, too.  They held each other close and shared a kiss every chance I gave them, and I loved every minute of it!

This next black + white on the left is one of Megan’s shots and I absolutely love it!

Then it was time to join the party!

Laura and her dad clearly have a special bond, and their father-daughter dance almost had me in tears!

We snuck out of the reception for a few more bride + groom portraits just as the sun dipped behind the mountains!

The cabin in the background of this next shot (on the left) is the one they stayed in that night – just a short walk from the reception lodge!  I love that we were able to get a few images with that cabin in the background!

I love getting a few twirls in during sunset portraits!
